Baby Scrapbooking

Good-bye old fashioned baby books. Hello incredibly wonderful baby scrapbooks full of pictures, precious memories, stickers, ribbons, and art. Since Scrapbooking seems to be taking over the nation at least where women are concerned, make plans for your baby scrapbook as soon as you know the sex of your baby. That way you can plan colors and themes appropriate for you new baby.

First you need to choose your scrapbook. Many women think that their scrapbook will probably be small and make the mistake of buying one that ends up being large enough for the baby’s first couple of months. Think big. Once the baby arrives, you will be snapping pictures like crazy because it will be love at first sight as soon as you see the baby. You might want to buy one of the books that you can add to as your book grows. You can buy the book which comes with several page protectors and then purchase re-fills as needed.

The next step is to choose your color scheme for the book. You may want to use pastels for a little girl or vibrant shades for a boy. Actually, you can do anything you want. It’s your baby. Some people like to use solid sheets whereas others enjoy patterned. The Scrapbooking sheets come in tablets or single sheets. There are so many colors and shades to choose from that planning may be daunting. Remember; it’s your baby scrapbook so do what suits you.

Shopping for stickers is so much fun. There are as many stickers as your imagination can take. There are stickers appropriate for boys and girls and many that are fine for both. If you are having a boy and like a particular sports team, you can use stickers to show your team pride. For that matter you can start your little girl on the road to enjoying a sports team by including them in your book.

If you are artistic, by all means use your talents. There is nothing more beautiful than personal works of art. If you do calligraphy, by all means use that talent. Many women use handmade stamps to make beautiful pages also. Whatever you enjoy makes your scrapbook more wonderful and personal.

Journaling is the perfect way to write your thoughts and dreams about your baby. By all means, start your book before your baby is born. Include pictures of you and your husband going to the doctor. Add the sonograms. Each month take a picture of you rapidly growing waist. Write what is in your heart. Write books to your baby as you watch it grow inside you.

Of course, include your trip to the hospital, the birth experience, and finally the perfect baby you now have. You will love the pictures of the slippery, wet baby who has come to bless your life in ways you never expected.

Be sure to include pages for each of your baby’s milestones. Don’t worry if you are too busy to keep the book always up-to-date. Simply take the pictures and make notations so you will be ready to journal when you have time.
